This TV remake at least tries to keep itself faithful to the original story by Stephen King.
The movie begins in 1963 in the Nebraskan town of Gatlin. A group of children are gathered inside a tent, where a young in a boy cowboy suit gives a creepy lecture to the rest of the congregation, while a pig is being sacrificed.
Jump to 12 years later, and a married couple traveling on the back roads of Nebraska are arguing inside their car, the corn fields being the only backdrop. Suddenly, a boy comes out of the corn fields, holding his bleeding throat, into the path of the couple's car. The man swerves and brakes, but to no avail - the boy is ran over.
The story continues pretty much following the original short story. It is better than the last three sequels to the original, but it still could have been a much better film itself. The acting is generally all right, apart from Kandyse McClure, after the boy hits the car and the little boy who played Issac recites his lines like he's still trying to remember them.
If you're a fan of the original 1984 film or even just the story then go ahead and give this a shot. It's not unwatchable and you could find worse things to waste an hour and a half on.
