'Disney's A Christmas Carol', a multi-sensory thrill ride re-envisioned by Academy Award winning filmmaker extraordinaire Robert Zemeckis, captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking 3D motion picture event.Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his cheery nephew (Colin Firth). But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.
Robert Zemeckis is also responsible for directing the movie box office smash hits: the 'Back To The Future' trilogy, 'Cast Away', 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit', 'Romancing The Stone', 'Forrest Gump', 'Contact' and his past CGI movies 'The Polar Express' and 'Beowulf'. The movie was shot via performance capture, as well as Disney digital 3-D animation.
In this adaptation of the Charles Dickens' story, Jim Carrey tackles several roles in the film, including Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.
A Christmas Carol began filming in February 2008, and will be released on November 6, 2009 by Walt Disney Pictures. It received its world premiere in London, coinciding with the switching on of the annual Oxford Street and Regent Street Christmas lights, which in 2009 has a Dickens theme.
