The Twilight Saga: New Moon - 2009

As the heartbroken Bella sleepwalks through her senior year of high school, numb and alone, she discovers Edward's image comes to her whenever she puts herself in jeopardy. Her desire to be with him at any cost leads her to take greater and greater risks.
With the help of her childhood friend Jacob Black, Bella refurbishes an old motorbike to carry her on her adventures. Bella's frozen heart is gradually thawed by her budding relationship with Jacob, a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe, who has a supernatural secret of his own.

When a chance encounter brings Bella face to face with a former nemesis, only the intervention of a pack of supernaturally large wolves saves her from a grisly fate, and the encounter makes it frighteningly clear that Bella is still in grave danger.

In a race against the clock, Bella learns the secret of the Quileutes and Edward's true motivation for leaving her. She also faces the prospect of a potentially deadly reunion with her beloved that is a far cry from the one she'd hoped for.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - 2009

'Fantastic Mr. Fox' is visionary director Wes Anderson's first animated film, utilizing classic handmade stop motion techniques to tell the story of the best selling children's book by Roald Dahl (author of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'James and the Giant Peach'). The film features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Wally Wolodarsky, Eric Anderson, Michael Gambon, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson and Jarvis Cocker.
Mr. and Mrs. Fox (Clooney and Streep) live an idyllic home life with their son Ash (Schwartzman) and visiting young nephew Kristopherson (Eric Anderson). But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox’s wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers - Boggis, Bunce and Bean - who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr. Fox at any cost.
George Clooney's smooth Mr Fox is in theory a mild-mannered newspaper columnist. But by night he is a daring robber and – without telling his wife – he plans to rob these three farmers of their livestock just as stylishly as Clooney's Danny Ocean famously knocked over three Vegas casinos.

First, though, he needs help, starting with the dopey possum who fixes the sink in his new tree home. Then he employs the teenage cousin Kristofferson, who has come to stay in the family home and study at the local school – to his son's chagrin, Kristofferson turns out to be a natural athlete and martial artist who furthermore winds up going steady with the class babe.
The farmers begin a military-style fightback against the vulpine invaders and Mr Fox and his crew have to dig for victory – and survival.

Harry Brown - 2009

The movie is set in modern day Britain and follows the story of a modest law-abiding elderly citizen, Harry Brown (Sir Michael Caine). Harry is a retired Marine and lives on a depressed public-housing estate in London, within a community where drugs are the currency of the day and guns run the streets.
As his wife lives out her last days in the hospital, Harry restricts his activities to games of chess in the pub with Leonard (David Bradley), his last best friend. Their housing estate has been taken over by warring gangs that deal drugs and settle scores with impunity. The police, represented here by upright detective Frampton (Emily Mortimer) and her cynical partner Hicock (Charlie Creed-Miles), are reduced to simply informing the victims' families when the latest shooting or knifing occurs – visits that Hicock calls death-o-grams.
Harry Brown's life has been stalked by tragedy and when his best friend Leonard is murdered by a gang of thugs, the situation forces him to make some difficult choices as to just how far he will go to find the perpetrators and dispense his own brand of vigilante justice. As he bids to clean up the run-down estate where he lives, his actions bring him into conflict with the police, led by investigating officer DCI Frampton and partner Hicock.

2012 - Movie - Clips

2012 - "The Worst is Over"
According to the Mayan calendar, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.
This is a disaster movie from the producer of The Day After Tomorrow, inspired by the popular superstition based on an ancient Mayan belief that the world will come to an end in the year 2012.
To give you an idea about the scale of disaster that occurs in this film, think The Day After Tomorrow but on steroids, it was as if mother nature got upset after the climate change in that film didn't kill us all and struck back with a vengeance.
Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. "2012" is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.
A five minute clip for 2012 that Columbia Pictures aired to the largest American media roadblock ever on the major broadcast networks, local stations in the top 70 markets, and nearly 450 television stations in North America.

The music video for 'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert's Time for Miracles from '2012' has been released and is below. Enjoy!
The video is fun and largely features shots of Adam singing from a rooftop intercut with shots of explosions and natural disasters from the movie. Our favorite, though, is him walking through a disaster street riot, complete with crashed cars and fire and people running.
'Time for Miracles' is the lead single from soundtrack album of the movie 2012 (2009).

Trick 'r Treat

The film is an anthology of Halloween-related scary stories. One thing that ties the stories together is the presence of Sam, a mysterious pint-sized trick-or-treater with a burlap pumpkin mask, who makes an appearance in all the stories, as a 'friendly-reminder' to those who break the Halloween traditions.
Produced by Bryan Singer, Trick ‘r Treat is a creepy, darkly comic celebration of the scariest night of the year: Halloween. The film’s ensemble cast includes Academy Award-winner Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Leslie Bibb, Dylan Baker and Tahmoh Penikett. In the tradition of Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt comes interwoven tales set on Halloween night. Trick ‘r Treat is a collection of creepy stories that mixes fun with fear, candy with poison, and laughter with screams.
It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten.
Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight; four women cross paths with a costumed stalker at a local festival; a group of pranksters goes too far and discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local legend; and a cantankerous old hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick.
Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem... the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety-human and otherwise-try to survive the scariest night of the year.
Director and Writer: Michael Dougherty
Produced by Bryan Singer
Cast:
Anna Paquin ... Laurie
Brian Cox ... Mr. Kreeg/Principal

Lauren Lee Smith ... Danielle

Tahmoh Penikett ... Henry
Brett Kelly ... Charlie
Britt McKillip ... Marcy
Isabelle Deluce ... Sara
Jean-Luc Bilodeau ... Schrader
The film had many title changes before filming began. Originally titled Season's Greetings was changed because it sounded too much like a Christmas film. Then it was called Halloween Terrors, Jack O' Lantern Tales, October the 31st, and Trick or Treat. The final title was kept but since there was already a movie of the same name out, they changed the spelling to Trick 'r Treat.
The film was originally to be released in October 2007 for a Halloween release. Warner Bros., without explanation or reason, pulled the film from the schedule and no reschedule date was announced. There was brief talk that the film would finally be released around Halloween 2008 and possibly early 2009 but neither release ever materialized. The film was finally released straight to DVD in October 2009.

Editorial Reviews:
Wizard Magazine
"The best Halloween film of the last 30 years."
Fangoria
"No film since John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN has captured the creepy spirit of the holiday." "We have a new classic on our hands."
I cannot think of a film more deserving of a 5/5 rating than
TRICK 'R TREAT. Writer/director Michael Dougherty has crafted a film that transformed me into a five-year-old child in a Dracula cape and plastic fangs, riveted in stunned horror as his vision played out before me. Somehow, it succeeds in being both terrifying and charming, like a dark old painting that still reminds you of home.

Originally starting out as an origin story, the film ultimately became a re-imagining of the first four Friday the 13th films. Along with bringing the film back to its roots, Jason was designed as a leaner and faster killer, with a backstory that could provide a little sympathy for the character but not enough that he would lose his menace.
When released the film was met with primarily negative reviews, but earned approximately $19 million opening night making it the largest opening day for the film series. It currently sits as the second highest grossing film in the Friday the 13th franchise, in unadjusted dollars.

As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, the members of the Donner Party slowly dissolved into madness, eventually turning on each other in what became a desperate, cannibalistic slaughter.

They struggle to find out whether these are these true demonic 'entities' or if it is simply 'cabin fever' that is bringing out their fears and paranoia, causing friends to turn against each other as their reality deteriorates around them.
Writers, Robert Michael Ryan and Jason Stephens, wanted heavy snowfall and they got it. The cast and crew survived 2 weeks of relentless snowstorms on location in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to get the footage.
"We got 12 feet of snow in 10 days" comments Director Jason Stephens, "there were days when I woke up and looked out the window and thought…. if this film wasn't self-financed, I would have called in and said – 'nope, snowing too hard today, not filming…..' but with our budget, we had to film everyday. We got it done and it looks incredible. There is no way anyone will doubt that the characters were trapped by a snowstorm. We actually were!"
Necrosis (from the Greek "nekros" meaning, "dead" ) is the premature death of cells and living tissue.
Produced on location in South Lake Tahoe, Big Bear Mountain, and Ventura, California, by Unknown Productions Incorporated in 2008/2009, they turned out the finished film in time for the 2009 Paranoia Film Festival in March, held on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.
Necrosis stars James Kyson ( Heroes ), George Stults ( 7th Heaven ), pop star Tiffany, Penny Drake ( Zombie Strippers ) Danielle De Luca, Robert Michael Ryan and has an extended cameo appearance from horror icon Michael Berryman ( The Hills Have Eyes ).

Walled In - 2009
The movie opens with a scene featuring a little girl trapped in a room filling with cement, this helps to enforce the belief that this is, a horror movie. Before she's entirely engulfed, the opening credits kick in with a montage of police reports and newspaper clippings.
The headlines explain the terrible discovery of 16 bodies cemented into the walls of a building, including that of the architect who designed it. We learn that the person who walled them in, Joseph Malestrazza, was never caught, and then we cut to 15 years later, when the building is planned to be demolished.
Opening Scene
We are introduced to 25 year old, recent-college graduate and future demolition engineer Sam Walczak (Mischa Barton). She's following in the family footsteps of blowing buildings up and her dad has given her a job to demolish a building for a chance to become a partner of the company. Adapted from Serge Brussolo's graphic novel of the same name, Walled In follows fledgling engineer Sam Walczak as she ventures deep into the countryside, where the monolithic Malestrazza Building is being prepared for demolition.
A few crazy tenants still live in the building, although they've received eviction notices. Also residing there are the building's disturbed caretaker Mary (Unger) and her equally disturbed teen aged son Jimmy (Bright).
Sam's mission is to figure out the best places for explosives to bring the complex down, although she seems rather lackadaisical in her approach, as she walks around, shops at the local store, talks to the tenants, and plays old Christmas record albums in the only remaining furnished apartment for guests. She's not exactly focused, in other words.
Many of the previous inhabitants were entombed alive in the massive structure, and the deeper Sam digs into the life details of the eccentric architect who designed it, the more convinced she becomes that she will be the final victim in its malevolent legacy.
Walled In (2009)
While watching it, you'll probably notice the scenes that seem blatantly ripped off of other movies. Ghostbusters, Texas Chainsaw, Silence of the Lambs, Nightmare on Elm Street and Psycho all make their appearances. Sam even describes the building as being "like the Bates Motel, only bigger" and it even has that "One, Two, Freddy's Coming For You" song several times.
The first 30 minutes of the movie is actually pretty good, but I'll save you the time by saying that it went downhill after that. The term "horror" applies only in the vaguest sense, more of a thriller, there is very little gore and not much action offered up either. It just ends up going in the wrong direction at the end. It's still worth a look, I think, and would recommend it to the horror crowd.
